The Plug information

What is a plug?

A 'Plug' is a slang term used to describe someone who acts as a reliable source or middleman for hard-to-find goods, services, or information. In many contexts, a plug has a network of connections that allows them to access or distribute items that may not be easily available to the general public. This role is common in various industries, from entertainment and fashion to streetwear and nightlife. Being a plug usually requires trust, discretion, and a strong network. The plug's importance lies in their ability to connect people with what they need, often quickly and efficiently.

Job description

Community Engagement & Wellness Marketing CoordinatorAbout the Role

The Plug Chiropractic and HOTWORX Asheville are looking for a high-energy, outgoing, and self-motivated Community Engagement & Wellness Marketing Coordinator to help grow two locally owned wellness businesses in the Asheville community.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, building relationships, creating content, attending events, and generating real business growth.

Your primary goal will be simple:

Get our names in front of more people, create meaningful community connections, and generate new leads, memberships, and patients for both businesses.

This is not a traditional desk-based marketing position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable getting out into the community, talking to businesses and potential customers, creating social media content, following up with leads, and taking initiative without needing to be told what to do every step of the way.

What You'll Do

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Represent The Plug Chiropractic and HOTWORX Asheville at local events, expos, networking opportunities, pop-ups, and community activities.

  • Visit and connect with local businesses and organizations to develop referral and collaboration opportunities.

  • Build relationships with businesses, healthcare providers, gyms, studios, family-focused organizations, and other community partners.

  • Identify local events and opportunities where our businesses should be represented.

  • Help organize community events, collaborations, and promotional opportunities.

Lead Generation & Follow-Up

  • Generate qualified leads for The Plug Chiropractic new patients and HOTWORX memberships.

  • Follow up with leads from events, social media, referrals, and community outreach.

  • Track leads and follow-up activity.

  • Help move potential customers from initial contact to appointment, tour, or membership.

  • Identify new opportunities for both businesses to reach potential customers.

Social Media & Content

  • Create engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.

  • Film and edit short-form videos, reels, stories, and promotional content.

  • Capture behind-the-scenes content during events and community outreach.

  • Assist with planning and scheduling weekly content for both brands.

  • Help increase local brand awareness and engagement.

Tracking & Accountability

  • Maintain accurate records of leads, outreach, partnerships, and follow-ups.

  • Track results from community events and marketing efforts.

  • Provide weekly updates on outreach activity, leads generated, partnerships developed, and conversions.

  • Work toward clearly defined weekly and monthly goals.

What a Typical 5-Hour Shift Looks Like

This position is structured and results-oriented. Your time will be divided between:

  • Lead follow-up and outreach

  • Community partnership development

  • Social media and content creation

  • In-person community engagement

  • Lead tracking and follow-up

  • Weekly goal tracking and reporting

You will have specific objectives for each shift. This is not a position where you are expected to simply "manage social media" or spend the day casually networking.

We're Looking For Someone Who Is
  • Outgoing and comfortable approaching new people.

  • A strong communicator and natural relationship builder.

  • Creative and comfortable creating social media content.

  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Comfortable with networking and relationship-based sales.

  • Passionate about health, fitness, wellness, and the local community.

  • Comfortable representing two professional wellness businesses.

  • Reliable, professional, and enthusiastic.

  • Willing to be hands-on and actively involved in the Asheville community.

Previous experience in marketing, social media, sales, community engagement, event planning, fitness, healthcare, or wellness is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.

Compensation

$17-20/hour + performance-based bonuses

Performance bonuses will be tied to measurable results, including new HOTWORX memberships, completed new patient appointments for The Plug Chiropractic, and successful community partnerships.

Approximately 15 hours per week, with some flexibility based on community events and outreach opportunities.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to work directly with two locally owned Asheville wellness businesses and have a tangible role in their growth.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Build your marketing and business development experience.

  • Develop relationships throughout the Asheville community.

  • Attend local events and networking opportunities.

  • Create content for two growing wellness brands.

  • Develop creative marketing and outreach ideas.

  • Directly contribute to new memberships, patients, and business growth.

  • Work closely with the owners and have a voice in developing new ideas.
