Assistant Center Director
Location: The Learning Experience – Gaithersburg, MD
Pay: $54,000–$58,000 per year

Assistant Center Director – Growing Preschool
The Learning Experience – Gaithersburg is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Center Director to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an early childhood professional who enjoys coaching teachers, supporting daily operations, building relationships with families, and helping a growing school reach its full potential.
Working closely with the Center Director, you'll help lead a team dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience where children learn, play, and thrive.
What You'll Do
  • Support the Center Director with the day-to-day management of the center
  • Coach and mentor teachers through classroom observations and ongoing professional development
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and staff engagement
  • Maintain compliance with Maryland Office of Child Care (OCC) licensing regulations
  • Support implementation of The Learning Experience's curriculum and classroom quality standards
  • Conduct tours for prospective families and help increase enrollment
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and team members
  • Assist with center administration, licensing documentation, staffing, and operational organization
  • Promote a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and outstanding customer service
Qualifications
  • Must meet Maryland Office of Child Care qualifications for an Assistant Director (Senior Staff Member) in a licensed childcare center
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
  • Coursework in Early Childhood Education and child development preferred
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of leadership experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
  • Knowledge of Maryland childcare licensing regulations
