We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to oversee the day-to-day accounting function across multiple entities and brands while ensuring financial accuracy, accountability, and operational support.
Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for leading the accounting department and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, internal controls, reconciliations, and month-end close processes across all JCK Restaurants entities. This leadership role will drive accountability, process improvement, audit readiness, and cross-functional collaboration while supporting the organization's continued growth.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds strong teams, and maintains high standards for accuracy, organization, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team across multiple functions
Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards
Build and maintain efficient workflows and scalable accounting processes
Ensure the department is appropriately staffed and trained to support business needs
Foster a collaborative and professional team environment
Financial Operations & Month-End Close
Own and manage the month-end close process and accounting calendar
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
Oversee reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and cash management
Maintain integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet accounts
Partner with Operations, Payroll, Finance, and other departments to ensure accurate reporting
Internal Controls & Compliance
Maintain strong internal controls, approvals, and documentation standards
Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP and company policies
Support audit preparation and coordinate external audit requests
Identify process gaps and implement improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Ensure consistency across accounting procedures for all brands and entities
Reporting & Process Improvement
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
Assist with bonus and incentive reporting accuracy
Develop and maintain accounting procedures and documentation
Drive process standardization and operational efficiencies
Utilize accounting systems and reporting tools to improve visibility and decision-making
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
Experience managing accounting operations in a multi-unit or multi-entity environment preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls
Proven ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and improve processes
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
Restaurant, retail, hospitality, or high-volume transactional industry experience preferred
