Body Shop Technician
About the Role
The Body Shop Technician performs structural and cosmetic repairs on damaged vehicles in accordance with OEM repair procedures, insurance requirements, and dealership quality standards. This role is responsible for accurate diagnostics, safe repair execution, and efficient completion of collision repairs. The Technician works closely with estimators, painters, parts, and the Body Shop Manager to ensure timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
Collision Repair & Structural Work
  • Perform structural and cosmetic repairs including frame repair, panel replacement, and body alignment.
  • Repair or replace damaged body panels, bumpers, doors, fenders, and structural components.
  • Follow OEM repair procedures and manufacturer specifications for all repairs.
  • Use measuring systems and frame machines to restore vehicles to factory specifications.

Disassembly, Reassembly & Fitment
  • Disassemble vehicles to assess damage and support accurate estimating and supplement creation.
  • Reassemble vehicles ensuring proper fit, finish, and alignment of all components.
  • Verify functionality of repaired components including safety systems and electronics.

Quality Control & Safety
  • Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with repair standards.
  • Identify potential issues or additional damage and communicate findings to the estimator.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all OSHA, dealership, and environmental safety guidelines.

Workflow & Collaboration
  • Coordinate with Body Shop Estimators, Painters, and Parts to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Communicate repair status, delays, or concerns to the Body Shop Manager.
  • Support cycle-time goals by completing repairs accurately and efficiently.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with shop cleanup, tool maintenance, and equipment organization.
  • Support other technicians during peak workload periods.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of collision repair or body shop technician experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OEM repair procedures and structural repair techniques.
  • Experience with frame machines, measuring systems, and repair tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Work Environment
Body shop environment with exposure to tools, equipment, vehicle movement, noise, and varying temperatures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work in various positions throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina required for repair work.
