Job description

TFG is seeking a motivated Shop and Installation Technician to join our Metairie, LA location. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and the opportunity to build a skilled trade career in the commercial foodservice equipment industry.

The Shop and Installation Technician assists with the assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial foodservice equipment both in our facility and at customer locations. This role also supports equipment preparation, deliveries, and shop organization. Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, dependable, and eager to learn and grow within a supportive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform in-house repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance on commercial foodservice equipment
  • Assist with installation and delivery of equipment to customer locations
  • Assemble, install, fabricate, and connect system components including compressors, motors, control panels, gauges, valves, and tubing
  • Conduct system testing to identify issues and complete necessary repairs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Communicate professionally with customers and internal personnel
  • Participate in ongoing technical and safety training
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Mechanical aptitude or interest in electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or general repair work
  • Strong attention to detail and dependability
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 60 pounds
  • Push or maneuver equipment weighing up to 900 pounds using wheels or dollies
  • Move equipment weighing up to 500 pounds from a dolly to a countertop or work surface
  • Climb ladders while carrying tools and equipment
  • Kneel, crouch, bend, and work from the floor for extended periods
  • Drive for extended periods for customer service calls and travel between job sites
  • Safely operate hand and power tools
  • Work in kitchens, warehouses, and outdoor environments with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and mechanical equipment
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, or related mechanical work
  • EPA Certification preferred but not required
  • On-the-job training and certification opportunities available
Work Environment

This position is based out of our Metairie facility. Work is primarily performed in a shop setting with occasional local travel for installations and deliveries. Some overnight travel may be required for out-of-area installations or training.
