Job description

Position Overview

Family Matters Care Consultants is actively seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our compassionate team. This full-time position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing for a dynamic and effective therapeutic environment that prioritizes the mental health of individuals affected by trauma. With a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $110,000 annually, our organization provides an engaging setting to develop meaningful therapeutic relationships while making a substantial impact in the mental health community.

About the Organization

Family Matters Care Consultants is devoted to delivering specialized mental health care with a particular focus on trauma recovery. Established in Los Angeles, California, our outpatient community health clinic is a safe haven for individuals seeking support and healing. We are dedicated to addressing various trauma-related issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our team of professionals is committed to continuous learning and implementing the latest evidence-based practices, ensuring that we deliver the highest standard of care tailored to each patient's unique needs.

Work Environment

This role offers a fully remote work setting, allowing you to connect with patients from the comfort of your own environment, while still benefiting from a collaborative team atmosphere. Our clinic promotes a supportive culture where mental health professionals share insights and experiences to enhance service delivery. The majority of your work will be conducted through secure telehealth platforms, ensuring patient confidentiality and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Counselor, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Conducting thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to better understand patients' trauma histories and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Creating and executing individualized treatment plans aimed at promoting recovery and enhancing resilience through tailored strategies.
  • Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as EMDR and TF-CBT, to facilitate effective healing processes.
  • Leading both individual and group therapy sessions, providing a supportive space for patients to process trauma, share experiences, and build coping mechanisms.
  • Collaborating with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure cohesive and integrated care pathways for patients.
  • Providing prompt crisis intervention support during trauma-related emergencies, requiring quick thinking and an empathetic approach.
  • Offering educational resources and guidance for patients and their families surrounding trauma responses and effective coping strategies.
  • Maintaining meticulous documentation that meets legal and ethical standards while protecting patient confidentiality.
  • Engaging in regular case consultations and team meetings to enhance collaborative care strategies and learn from shared experiences.
  • Staying updated on the latest research, techniques, and trends in trauma therapy to ensure your therapeutic practices are effective and responsive to emerging needs.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients you will serve include individuals grappling with the aftermath of trauma, including those diagnosed with PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Your role will focus on creating a nurturing and empowering space for these clients, emphasizing trauma-informed care. By addressing their diverse needs, you will play a vital role in fostering genuine recovery and resilience among patients, guiding them through their therapeutic journey.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of trauma-related disorders and interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to therapy.
  • An ability to remain composed and effective under pressure, especially during crisis situations.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and comfort in navigating digital communication platforms.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is preferred, a robust understanding of trauma-focused therapies and a commitment to continuous professional development are equally important. Experience in delivering trauma-informed therapies and familiarity with diverse therapeutic modalities will enhance your effectiveness in this role.

Compensation and Benefits

  • A competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000 per year.
  • Extensive healthcare benefits to support your wellbeing.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions for long-term financial stability.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay to encourage a healthy work-life balance.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage to safeguard your practice.
  • Access to ongoing continuing education opportunities to nurture your professional growth.
  • A collaborative team environment that supports mentorship and development.
