Job description

Diversified Sourcing Solutions (DSS) is currently hiring a Yarn Winder for one of our valued manufacturing clients. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in manufacturing, textiles, carpet/flooring, warehouse operations, or production who is looking for a stable opportunity with competitive pay.
Pay: $17.20/hour
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Position: Yarn Winder
Employment Type: Staffing / Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
Position Summary
The Yarn Winder is responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting winding and twisting equipment. This includes threading machines, monitoring for broken threads, performing quality checks, preparing materials, and maintaining production efficiency.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
  • Process and prepare orders based on incoming requests.
  • Pull and supply yarn for production orders.
  • Pull surging yarn and deliver it to the winding station.
  • Operate winding machines as needed.
  • Set up, thread, operate, and adjust winding equipment.
  • Monitor equipment for broken threads and production issues.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Return yarn to proper storage locations after orders are completed.
  • Complete and log required paperwork and information in computer systems.
  • Receive incoming materials and verify bills of lading against shipments.
  • Inspect deliveries for damage and route materials to the appropriate departments.
  • Restock inventory and update yarn and lot numbers.
  • Create yarn proms and prom sets as needed.
  • Prepare carpets for shipment, including palletizing when required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, production area, and exterior pallet areas.
  • Follow 5S principles to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workplace.
  • Keep production areas free of debris, waste, and safety hazards.
  • Learn safe forklift operation and obtain company certification as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Work overtime or flexible hours as needed based on business demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in carpet, flooring, textiles, warehouse, manufacturing, shipping/receiving, or clerical work is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, order processing, and shipping/inventory systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dependable and self-motivated.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work with wool-based products.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors and successfully pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test.
  • Ability to safely use cutting tools and packaging equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive production and material-handling tasks safely.
