Job description

General Job Description: 

The function of the Campus Store Associate is to serve customers in every aspect, maintain store stock and appearance, and complete sales using a point-of-sale system to sustain cash and inventory levels. The store associate must display a commitment to supporting the overall university and Slingshot mission and demonstrate the university and Slingshot’s values.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Serving store customers in all capacities, including point-of-sale operations with handling cash and credit card payments, telephone calls (including voicemails and returning calls), and online sales fulfillment and shipping
  • Assist with in-store receiving, locating textbooks, and general merchandise
  • Shipping of textbooks and general merchandise
  • Fulfilling textbook orders
  • General clerical responsibilities such as filing paperwork, typing simple documents/Excel spreadsheets, and emails to students when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications Required:

  • Be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to carry, bend, and stretch in the performance of campus store operations as well as stand for long periods
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • One  year of experience in retail or customer service preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and general customers
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Google Suite.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to self-start and work independently
  • Schedule flexibility during peak seasons
