Job description

The manager of the Union Campus Store oversees the retail and textbook sales
operations for the College, serving in a key brand stewardship role on the
Communications and Marketing team.

Position Title: Campus Store Manager

Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular Full-time

Supervisor: Vice President for Communications and Marketing

Position Purpose: The manager of the Union Campus Store oversees the retail and textbook sales operations for the College, serving in a key brand stewardship role on the Communications and Marketing team.

Reporting to the Vice President for Communications and Marketing, and working in close consultation with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the manager will provide strategic direction for the on-campus retail and textbook operation as well as the seasonal Union Spirit Shop, which operates at on off-campus arena during the men and women's hockey seasons. The manager also will supervise a staff of full-time and student workers at both locations.

The College seeks an energetic, collaborative and creative leader with strong retail and supervisory experience to help transition the Campus Store into a profitable retail operation and a true Union brand asset.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Modernizing Union's textbook sales operation.

  • Continue to develop merchandising improvements.

  • Assess the short and long terms staffing needs of the operation.

  • Collaborate with the VP and CMO on the creation of a strategic plan to realize the full potential od Campus Store operations; fully promote the Union brand.

  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of full-time retail or merchandising experience, inclusive of supervisory experience.

  • College/university retail experience and/or bookselling experience a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of fashion/merchandising trends.

  • Demonstrated success increasing sales in a retail setting.

  • Experience in budgeting.

  • Outstanding communications and marketing skills.

  • Collaborative and team-oriented working style.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks/priorities simultaneously.

  • Willingness and availability to occasionally work on weekends and evenings.

Compensation:

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000.Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
