Job description

The Opportunity:

As BluMetric continues to grow its WaterTech business across markets we are seeking a Project Manager/Specialist to work within the Project Management Office (PMO). This role will report to Senior or Lead Project Managers within PMO and will be responsible for end-to-end project life cycle delivery as well as indirect project team management. The role will be focused on:

  • Management of multiple Water and Wastewater product development, production, and in service support projects
  • Project delivery and reporting;
  • Supporting proposal and cost estimation developments; and
  • Facilitating business growth through the internal and external initiatives.

This position will require onsite work with periods of full-time onsite or remote work at Client locations. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the WaterTech team to ensure project delivery contributing to the company’s market positioning, client relationships, and employee interactions. This is an existing vacancy within the organization.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Project/Program Management:

  • Accountable for the entire lifecycle of assigned projects in the company's project portfolio, ranging from strategic planning initiatives to tactical activities.
  • Manage inter-project dependencies and constraints.  
  • Manage multi-disciplinary project teams to delivery complex systems.
  • Adhere to established methodologies for project management.
  • Manage all project activities throughout the project lifecycle from initiation through to closure by applying the appropriate PM techniques and tools (e.g. software), including activities such as but not limited to:
    • Risk Management;
    • Schedule Management;
    • Budget Management;
    • Change Management; and
    • Stakeholder Management.
  • Create contingency plans to mitigate risk.
  • Adhere to a quality management system compliant with ISO 9001.

Proposal/Business Development:

  • Support the Applications Engineering team as required in the development of proposals including estimations, costing, and quoting.
  • Maintain strong and positive client relationships before, during, and after project delivery.
  • Support creation of Project Charters as part of project initiation defining the project's goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, staffing levels, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown structure, milestones, and deliverables.

General:

  • Facilitate continual learning initiatives including project after action reviews to identify opportunities for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.
  • Maintain strong communications and relationships across the wider WaterTech team.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams and associated work.
  • Continually improve BluMetric’s Project Management tools and delivery standards.


Key Qualifications, Education, and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Eng designation and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or equivalent) considered an asset.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) of experience managing technical project delivery in engineering and production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in defence and/or Water and Wastewater industries.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary project teams across engineering, production, planning, quality, and procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), scheduling and schedule analysis, cost estimating and cost control, budget development, reporting, and record/ document control.
  • Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Secret (NATO) security clearance;
  • Must be compliant with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP);
  • Proven experience in managing, including professional development, of direct reports considered an asset.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities of work and negotiate for project success as part of a collaborative team effort.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Project management within the confines of an ERP.
  • Proficient in common desktop packages, i.e. MS Office suite of tools, Word, Excel, and project scheduling tools.
  • Bilingualism in English and French would be an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite at our Carp, Ontario office at least three (3) days per week, or as required to support business needs.
  • A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle.
