Quality Control And Testing Manager

We are looking for a Quality Control & Testing Manager for our new Skid Assembly facility in Knightdale, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

The Electrification and Automation Business Unit is looking for a Quality Control & Testing Manager to drive continuous improvement, optimization, and testing of all production activities at our Knightdale, North Carolina location, an assembly and distribution facility primarily focused on energy distribution. Electrification and Automation offers a full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and sales channels. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today's and tomorrow's power grid.

You will be responsible for driving an ongoing failure prevention mindset using key quality planning processes and tools, supporting both proactive and reactive activities as required. You will develop and facilitate continuous improvement activities with the overall goal of complete customer satisfaction and streamlined, efficient assembly and production processes.

You will be responsible for assembly inspection and testing protocols, and for ensuring proper testing equipment, processes, and protocols are used to verify functionality of in-process and assembled products and solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimal day-to-day testing and inspection
  • Prepare the site for ISO certification through process development, compliance activities, document control, and audit preparation
  • Lead Siemens internal monthly ISO audits and drive a structured monthly corrective action cadence
  • Monitor and analyze NCCs (Non-Conformance Costs), and lead 8D teams to drive root cause analysis and preventive action implementation with related process owners
  • Develop and implement quality systems including LPAs, defect tracking, yield monitoring, inspection controls, and process discipline to improve first-pass yield and reduce defects and DPM
  • Process Quality, Delivery Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Cost of Quality, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), as well as aligned BU and HQ KPIs
  • Lead the implementation of ISO matrix and integrated management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001)
  • Support assembly operations by providing daily input during GEMBA walks to proactively identify quality risks and support real-time issue resolution
  • Support Supplier Quality Management (SQM) to achieve best-in-class quality processes in alignment with EA Procurement, ensuring delivered quality and reducing supplier-caused NCCs
  • Support product advisories and RMA (Return Material Authorization) process management
  • Commit to plant safety procedures and drive the Siemens Zero Harm culture together for a safe and sustainable future
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity, standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Drive an ownership culture where all employees feel they are an integral part of the business

You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality management, and testing
  • Competent understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering theory and principles, and mechanical drawing interpretation and print reading
  • Ability to understand and use measurement instruments including force gauges, calipers, micrometers, hardness testing equipment, and basic multimeter readings
  • Thorough understanding of basic materials such as steel, aluminum, copper, brass, and plastics
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 management requirements, with the ability to read, interpret, and apply standard requirements
  • Experience with AS9145 (APQP) or 5P processes supporting facility launches, product launches, or production line expansions
  • Knowledge of machining processes with an understanding of basic theory and characteristics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with safely testing and using test equipment for low voltage power and control circuits, high potential testing, megger testing, continuity testing of power and control wiring (similar or equivalent to NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP))
  • Familiarity with Medium Voltage and Low Voltage switchgear, power transformers, protection and automation systems, Photo Voltaic and Battery Energy Storage System inverters
  • Experience in a startup manufacturing environment, including facility launches, ramp-ups, or product line expansions
  • Knowledge of data center, photovoltaic, battery energy storage, and power distribution applications
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical equipment integration assembly processes
  • Industry knowledge and best practices related to NEC, IBC, and IFC codes
  • Software application knowledge including SieOps, Salesforce, SAP, and MS Teams
  • 6S methodology knowledge and certification
  • ASQ certification
  • Thorough understanding of structured problem-solving and quality improvement tools
  • Previous experience in a metalworking manufacturing environment
