The Test & Failure Analysis (FA) Engineering Assistant Manager oversees and coordinates test and failure analysis activities for both existing and new products. This role is responsible for driving efficient and reliable test operations, ensuring compliance with customer, quality, and EHS requirements, and providing strong technical and leadership to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives. 


Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & Team Management 

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate engineers, technicians, and operators within the Test & FA organization. 

  • Determine staffing requirements, required competencies, and training needs to support operational demands. 

  • Support recruitment, performance management, coaching, and ongoing development of team members. 

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, initiative, and continuous improvement. 

Test & Failure Analysis Operations 

  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance test and failure analysis processes for current and new products. 

  • Lead root cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and repair-related activities. 

  • Ensure all test and FA processes comply with customer specifications, internal standards, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex production and quality issues. 

Equipment & Systems Oversight 

  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and effective operation of test equipment, fixtures, and related systems. 

  • Support the introduction of new test methods, technologies, and automation solutions. 

  • Establish, implement, and maintain system-technical procedures, work instructions, and process documentation. 

Production & Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Provide technical and operational support to manufacturing areas related to testing and FA activities. 

  • Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Repair, and IT teams to resolve issues and improve overall performance. 

  • Support internal training initiatives aimed at improving productivity, reducing scrap and rework, and enabling new product introduction (NPI). 

Continuous Improvement & Cost Management 

  • Identify and implement improvement actions to enhance quality, efficiency, delivery, and cost performance. 

  • Track and analyze KPIs such as test yield, failure trends, turnaround time, and repair effectiveness. 

  • Contribute to cost control initiatives and workforce planning within the Test & FA function. 

Compliance, Quality & EHS Responsibilities 

Quality & Standards 

  • Ensure adherence to customer requirements, quality standards, and internal procedures. 

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reporting for test and failure analysis activities. 

Environmental Protection 

  • Act as a responsible area leader by identifying, managing, and minimizing environmental risks. 

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and all applicable environmental procedures. 

  • Promptly report and support the investigation and resolution of environmental incidents in cooperation with the Environmental Engineer. 

Work & Fire Protection 

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety and fire protection policies within the assigned area. 

  • Identify risks, promote safe working practices, and support corrective actions in collaboration with EHS specialists. 

  • Encourage employee engagement and reporting related to health, safety, and environmental matters. 
     

Required Qualifications & Experience 

Education 

  • Minimum requirement: High School Diploma

  • Technical or Engineering degree is a Plus

Experience 

  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience in electronic product manufacturing 

  • Practical experience with test, repair, and failure analysis processes
