As a Project Engineer I you will support planning, coordination, and execution of the engineering aspects of product development projects. Your role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of project milestones, managing schedules, and assisting with technical matters. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to grow their engineering careers by gaining hands-on experience in project management and technical coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Planning & Execution:

    • Develop, maintain, and oversee detailed test plans, procedures, and schedules for system-level tests.

    • Coordinate and support test execution activities, ensuring adherence to test protocols and safety standards.

    • Work with test teams to resolve technical issues encountered during test execution.

  • Project Coordination:

    • Assist in developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and budgets specific to system test activities.

    • Track progress and resource allocation for test phases.

  • Technical Support:

    • Provide hands-on technical support during test execution, troubleshooting issues as they arise.

    • Interface with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and external customers or field-based employees to resolve test-related issues.

  • Status Reporting:

    • Prepare and distribute regular status reports on system test progress, highlighting key achievements, test outcomes, and potential issues.

  • Risk Management:

    • Identify and document potential risks related to system testing and assist in developing mitigation plans.

  • Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate test documentation, including test plans, test reports, test procedures, and meeting minutes.

  • Team Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and test teams to ensure seamless project and test execution.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • 8+ years' experience in engineering roles, including hands-on experience with test planning and execution.

  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practice, with a focus on test environments.

  • Basic understanding of requirements management, system design, and integration.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • 2-4 years relevant leadership and/or project management experience in a test environment.

  • Experience with test management and project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, test case management tools).

  • Experience leading or coordinating system-level test activities and communicating results to program management and customers.

  • Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management related to test activities.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, specifications, instructions, and test procedures.

  • Experience or certification in International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standards.

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.

Essential Functions:

  • Occasional travel to customer or field locations and test sites may be required.
  • Ability to work primarily in an office, lab, or hybrid environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Prolonged periods working on a computer and at test sites.
  • Hand and finger dexterity for computer and test equipment use.
  • Capability to work in potentially hazardous environments when visiting test or project sites.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
