Job description

Overview

Position Summary

Responsible for working within a team to perform required system inspections on utility PV power 
plants. Perform mechanical/electrical inspections and commissioning testing. Document all inspections, 
observations, and test results. Communicate inspections, observations, and test results with 
Commissioning CM/GF. Document and assist with PV system troubleshooting and corrective actions.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist with the inspection of PV plants to specifications of construction documents 
• Complete all commissioning documentation during inspection 
• Document all outstanding issues and deliver all documentation in a neat and orderly manner for 
review by the CX CM/GF  
• Assist Commissioning CM/GF with field test data entry as needed 
• Perform final visual and mechanical inspections on equipment before energization date 
• Support third party testing and inspections. (Transformers, MV audits, MV cable tests, etc.) 
• Ensure proper use of PPE and conformity to safety procedures by all employees 
• Keep testing equipment clean and orderly at all times. Ensure calibration is up to date. 
• Report any missing or broken equipment to CX CM/GF and inform them when consumable 
supplies are low  
• Care for and maintain all issued PPE in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications 
• Work together with other Techs ensuring quality of work and adherence to all safety procedures 
• Other duties as assigned 


Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements: 

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
• Classroom education or training in photovoltaic systems preferred 
• Photovoltaic installation experience 
• One year of electrical experience required 
• OSHA 10-hour, First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E certifications preferred 
• Ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

• Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be 
affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working 
toward the MasTec’s Zero Injury principles  
• Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams 
• Ability to use a multi-meter 
• Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form 
• Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards

Working Environment:

• The work environment at the jobsite involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following 
basic safety precautions  
• This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, 
fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
