Rantec is an upper-tier designer and manufacturer of power supplies for the military and aerospace markets. We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test.

Position Summary

The Test Engineering team at Rantec is tasked with keeping the production test environment up and running smoothly to allow our Test Technicians to provide accurate and consistent results. The Test Equipment Technician typically works under the direction of engineers to support various engineering tasks. They primarily focus on the hands-on aspects of building, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating test equipment. They may assist with measurements and special tasks. You will have the opportunity to expand your skillset through formal training and through hands-on experience working beside talented engineers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but are not limited to the following:

  • Fabricate test equipment, fixtures, and cabling.
  • Provide routine maintenance and calibration of test equipment.
  • Provide training for other staff on the proper use of test equipment.
  • Alternate work schedule supporting weekends.
  • Repair or replace faulty components or systems in test equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Work with engineers, quality control personnel, and other technicians to address equipment issues and improve testing processes.
  • Execute manual and automated tests and document results thoroughly.
  • Ensure all test equipment and procedures adhere to safety standards and regulations.
  • Provide feedback on test equipment design and automated test improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of fabrication, maintenance, calibration, and repairs, including detailed reports and logs.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability for maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, if needed. 
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
  • As the Company’s success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in a technical or engineering field preferred.
  • 5 years’ hands-on experience in electronics test equipment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to fabricate test equipment and cabling.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on a wide range of test equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and develop effective solutions.
  • General operational knowledge of electronic test equipment and environmental systems.
  • Understand basic analog circuitry and ability to read electrical schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to engineers and other team members.
  • Meticulous approach to ensure accuracy in testing, calibration, and documentation.
  • Experience with the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Soldering (IPC J-STD-001 certification) preferred.
  • Electronics inspection (IPC A-610 certification) preferred.

Salary: $30.00 - $36.00 Hourly
