Job description

BETA Technologies is seeking a Lead Verification & Validation Engineer to define and own the verification strategy for our certifying electric aircraft's high-voltage electric power systems. 

This is a senior technical leadership role focused on architecting the end-to-end verification approach across the HV domain. You'll work across systems engineering, test, and certification teams to establish scalable verification frameworks, ensure traceability, and enable high-quality execution aligned with certification objectives. 

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Define and own the end-to-end verification strategy for high-voltage systems from component through aircraft level  
  • Develop domain-level verification plans, methodologies, and success criteria aligned with certification requirements  
  • Establish standardized tools, workflows, and artifacts to ensure consistency, traceability, and audit readiness  
  • Define and maintain connections between requirements, verification activities, evidence, and compliance findings  
  • Architect verification approaches across battery systems, power electronics, HV distribution, safety interlocks, and energy management  
  • Lead verification campaigns covering performance, thermal behavior, protection systems, and off-nominal or faulted conditions  
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to the HV V&V team, ensuring high-quality execution as the organization scales  
  • Mentor engineers, conduct rigorous technical reviews, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field  
  • 8+ years of experience in verification, validation, systems, or test engineering in aerospace or another safety-critical industry  
  • Proven experience defining verification strategies for complex systems  
  • Deep expertise in high-voltage or electrified power systems (batteries, power electronics, HV safety, distribution)  
  • Strong understanding of requirements-based verification and traceability  
  • Experience with requirements and PLM tools such as Polarion, DOORS, Jira, or Windchill  
  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills  
  • Ability to provide structure and direction in a fast-paced environment  

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Experience with certification frameworks such as ARP4754A, ARP4761, and FAA/EASA programs  
  • Familiarity with high-voltage and battery standards (SAE, UL, IEC, DO-311, ASTM)  
  • Experience with DO-178C, DO-254, or DO-160G  
  • Background in flight test, system integration, or model-based verification (MBSE, MATLAB/Simulink, Python)  
  • Experience building automated test or data systems at scale  
  • Prior experience as a verification lead or technical authority
