Job Description
PENDING CONTRACT AWARD
The Engineer, Junior at the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR) independently evaluates, selects, adapts,
and modifies standard techniques and criteria to plan and conduct engineering assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Applies engineering principles, codes, and practices to support the RDT&E of weapons systems
  • Performs engineering tasks involving various disciplines including, control systems, electronics, power, instrumentation, signal processing, radio-frequency, mechanical, and aerospace
  • Applies aerospace engineering principles and concepts in the performance of test and evaluation of projectiles (guided and unguided)
  • Coordinates with Data Acquisition Engineers to define instrumentation and measurement requirements to support data collection and analysis during the planning of tests
  • Assists with the planning for and management of classified requirements and data collected above the Secret level
  • Performs project work through knowledge of engineering practices and policies, and to devise new approaches to resolve problems
  • Operates with general instructions in an independent mode and receives guidance on special problems or when requested
  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, and makes minor adaptations and modifications
  • Provides independent and professional support on portions of complex projects
  • Reviews specific assignment objectives, approaches, and possible solutions for accuracy and completeness
  • Independently performs a project assignment that involves complex features and can be guided by codes, standards, and other precedents of the discipline
  • Analyzes and/or evaluates the results of an analysis using techniques prescribed by senior engineers or supervisors
  • Accomplishes tasks of which require investigation of many variables
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline
  • Three (3) years of experience in any work environment
  • Experience working collaboratively as a member of a project team
  • Solid foundation in the principles and practices of aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or systems engineering
  • Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills, essential for success in a T&E team environment
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to think critically and solve complex problems within the T&E process
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of relevant internships or co-op programs dealing with the concepts of T&E
  • Familiarity with specific engineering standards and regulations
Physical Qualifications
  • The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment
  • Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to view computer monitor for extended periods of time
  • Must be capable of lifting 25 lbs. unassisted

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an interim security clearance prior to employment prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment
