Job description

Pratt & Whitney Measurement Systems in Bloomfield, CT is looking for a dedicated individual to support our organization. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer. Pratt & Whitney Measurement Systems manufactures ultra-precision measuring instruments. Our instruments measure linear dimensions to micro-inch accuracy and can be found in Quality Control/Inspection Laboratories throughout the world.

Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for creating 3D drawings of measuring instruments and accessories and the parts that go into these instruments. Responsibilities also include prototype assembly and testing with minimal supervision. This position requires technical innovation and product design experience.

Duties:

  • Maintain drawings
  • Make 3D drawings of parts/assemblies for measuring instruments and accessories
  • Detail and tolerance new parts
  • Source parts for new product designs
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials
  • Assemble prototypes
  • Test instruments and accessories
  • Work with customer service and production in solving instrument problems
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Solidworks
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and solve work related situations
  • General knowledge of electricity/electronics, physics and hydraulics
  • Knowledge of principals of design, fabrication, and assembly
  • Knowledge of materials

Experience and Education

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be skilled in Solidworks

Medical Evaluation: physical examination including drug screening is required.
