Test Development Assistant information

What are the main challenges Test Development Assistants face when coordinating with subject matter experts?

Test Development Assistants often work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create accurate and relevant assessment materials. A common challenge is translating complex or technical content provided by SMEs into clear, measurable test items that align with learning objectives and testing standards. Effective communication, attention to detail, and familiarity with assessment frameworks are essential to bridge the gap between subject expertise and test design. Building strong collaborative relationships can help ensure the final assessments are both valid and reliable.

What does a development assistant do?

A development assistant supports the creation and improvement of tests, assessments, or educational materials by coordinating tasks, managing schedules, and assisting with research and data collection. They often work with test developers, use specialized software, and ensure that materials meet quality standards and deadlines.

What are Test Development Assistants?

Test Development Assistants are professionals who support the creation, organization, and administration of educational or professional assessments. They typically assist with tasks such as item writing, test formatting, proofreading, and maintaining databases of test questions. Their work ensures that exams are accurate, fair, and effectively measure the intended knowledge or skills. They may also help with data entry, preparing test materials, and coordinating logistics for test administration. Test Development Assistants often work under the supervision of test developers or psychometricians in educational institutions, certification boards, or testing organizations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Test Development Assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Test Development Assistant, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in educational measurement or a related field, often supported by a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with data analysis tools, test item authoring software, and learning management systems is typically required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills help you collaborate with stakeholders and manage multiple projects efficiently. These skills ensure the accuracy, fairness, and timely delivery of assessment materials essential for educational or certification programs.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

High-paying jobs that can pay around $2,000 a day typically include specialized roles such as senior consultants, surgeons, or experienced freelance professionals like software developers or project managers. These roles often require advanced skills, certifications, or extensive experience, and may involve consulting, contract work, or working in high-demand industries. Such positions usually demand long hours, high responsibility, and a strong professional background.

Common Search & ComparisonOften compared for roles supporting test development processesMore focused on test administration and coordination tasks

The Test Development Assistant primarily supports the creation and research of tests, working closely with test developers. In contrast, the Test Coordinator manages the logistics and administration of testing processes. Both roles require similar educational backgrounds but differ in responsibilities and work focus.

How do I pass a job assessment test?

To pass a Test Development Assistant assessment test, review the job description to understand the required skills, such as attention to detail and technical knowledge, and practice relevant tasks or sample questions. Familiarity with testing tools, basic data analysis, and clear communication can also improve performance. Preparing thoroughly and demonstrating accuracy are key to success.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A Test Development Assistant typically does not earn $10,000 a month without a degree; such high salaries are uncommon in this role. Test Engineer - Solar Simulator

Exowatt

Miami, FL โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Retirement

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

Exowatt is revolutionizing the energy landscape for the AI era with our groundbreaking P3 system that captures solar energy, stores it as heat, and generates electricity on demand. Founded in 2023 and backed by leading investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Sam Altman, and Felicis, we're committed to providing clean, modular, and scalable power that meets the rapidly growing demands of AI infrastructure. Our mission is to make sustainable renewable energy always available and almost free, enabling technological advancement while protecting our planet.
We're hiring a Test Engineer to own day-to-day operation of the solar simulator and lead the characterization and validation testing that feeds directly into our product development. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes working with real hardware, high-flux optics, and high-temperature systems - and who gets energized by the fact that the data they generate actually drives design decisions.
This position is based in Miami, FL. If selected, relocation to Miami, FL is required. Exowatt provides relocation assistance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, set up, and execute test campaigns on the solar simulator, including thermal receiver characterization, material testing, and sub-system validation
  • Design and build test fixtures, instrumentation setups, and data acquisition systems to capture high-quality experimental data
  • Operate and maintain the simulator and supporting lab infrastructure - lamp arrays, optics, cooling, controls, and safety systems
  • Perform flux mapping, spectral characterization, and calibration to ensure test conditions are well-understood and repeatable
  • Instrument test articles with thermocouples, pyrometers, flow meters, flux sensors, and related diagnostics
  • Develop data acquisition and control scripts (LabVIEW, Python, or similar) and automate repetitive test sequences
  • Analyze test data, identify anomalies, and communicate results clearly to R&D, engineering, and leadership stakeholders
  • Partner closely with design engineers to translate test findings into design improvements
  • Write test plans, procedures, and reports; maintain rigorous records of configurations, calibrations, and results
  • Enforce and continuously improve lab safety practices for high-flux, high-temperature, and high-voltage work
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause investigations on prototype hardware

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or a related engineering field
  • 3+ years of hands-on test engineering experience in a lab or prototype environment
  • Experience designing and executing test plans, including instrumentation selection and test fixture design
  • Proficiency with data acquisition tools (LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or similar) and common lab instrumentation
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, or thermal-fluid systems
  • Comfort working with high-temperature, high-voltage, or otherwise hazardous equipment, and a demonstrated safety-first mindset
  • Clear technical writing and the ability to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with solar simulators, high-flux testing, or other high-intensity optical systems
  • Familiarity with thermal receivers, heat exchangers, or high-temperature storage materials
  • Experience calibrating optical or thermal instrumentation (pyrometers, flux gauges, radiometers)
  • Background in mechanical fabrication, machining, or hands-on prototype assembly
  • Previous work in a fast-moving hardware startup environment

What We Offer:
Competitive salary and equity options.
Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and retirement plans.
A dynamic work environment that fosters creativity and innovation.
Opportunities for professional growth and development in a rapidly evolving industry.
Relocation assistance.
