Job Summary:
The EV Technician is responsible for performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on VinFast electric vehicles. You'll work directly with advanced EV technology, including high-voltage systems, battery packs, electric drivetrains, and vehicle software. This position plays a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction and upholding the highest service standards.
Essential Functions:
  • Diagnose and repair VinFast electric vehicles, including high-voltage systems, electric motors, inverters, and charging components.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as tire rotations, brake inspections, and software updates per VinFast guidelines.
  • Use VinFast diagnostic tools and scan systems to identify and resolve issues.
  • Ensure all service work is documented accurately in the dealership management system.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following dealership and manufacturer safety standards.
  • Stay current on VinFast technical training and EV certification requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with service advisors and, when needed, with customers to explain repairs and recommendations.
  • Assist with vehicle pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) for new VinFast models.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces in compliance with OSHA and dealership safety standards.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all guidelines when working on high-voltage systems.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve service department goals.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 years' electrical vehicle experience.
  • Valid Driver's license and safe driving record; If currently out-of-state, a California driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • At least one year of verifiable driving experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.
  • VinFast EV certification or factory training.
  • Mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems.
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to performing high-quality.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment.

Physical Demands:
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and work in various positions (e.g., bending, kneeling) for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools and small parts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to frequently lift 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in tight spaces.
  • Frequently bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

Environment/Noise:
  • Work in well-ventilated and well-lit repair shop.
  • Exposure to hazardous conditions and equipment that may result in minor injuries.
  • Frequent use of protective gear such as goggles and earplugs.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, something in cramped spaces and awkward positions.
  • Regular exposure to contaminants such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers.
  • Work in close proximity to other technicians and mechanics.
