Job description

What to Expect

Tesla is seeking an experienced QA & Performance Spcialist to join the Charging team, with a primary focus on construction and infrastructure deployment. In this high-level role, you will oversee quality assurance and performance standards throughout the build and deployment of Tesla's charger network North and South America. You will work directly with internal Construction Managers, Construction Leads, and cross-functional teams to ensure every charging location is constructed to the highest standards of quality, reliability, safety, and operational excellence. This position emphasizes proactive quality oversight during site development, construction, and commissioning phases, driving consistency across projects while supporting the rapid, scalable expansion of a world-class EV charging infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Partner directly with internal Construction Leads, Construction Managers and Internal Self Perform crews to establish and enforce rigorous quality standards for charging site builds, from civil works and electrical infrastructure through final commissioning
  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive QA/QC programs, and quality checklists tailored to charging construction projects, ensuring alignment with Tesla specifications, National Electrical Code (NEC), and industry best practices
  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and performance validations during active construction to verify that installations meet design intent, quality requirements, and long-term reliability goal
  • Collaborate closely with internal construction leadership (not limited to external contractors) to review contractor quality plans, resolve quality issues in real time, and drive corrective/preventive actions on-site
  • Monitor and analyze build-phase performance metrics, including installation quality, material compliance, workmanship standards, and readiness for operations; identify risks early and implement proactive mitigations
  • Lead root cause analysis and quality investigations for construction-related issues, coordinating with engineering, project management, and field teams to implement lasting improvements
  • Support the handover process from construction to operations by ensuring sites achieve defined quality gates, performance benchmarks, and documentation completeness and maintain detailed quality records, dashboards, and reports; contribute to lessons-learned sessions that enhance future project execution across the Supercharger network

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, a related technical field, or equivalent experience; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., PMP, CQE, LEED) preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, preferably in energy, utilities, electrical infrastructure, or EV charging
  • Proven track record working directly with internal construction managers and leads on active build sites, including oversight of contractors and subcontractors
  • Strong knowledge of construction quality systems, inspection processes, ITPs, NCR management, and relevant codes/standards (e.g., NEC, building codes)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability on-site
  • Ability and willingness to be able to travel extensively (over 50% of time) to charging locations or frequently to construction sites as needed

Expected Compensation

  • Associate Technical Construction Project Manager - $96,000 - $144,000/annual salary
  • Technical Construction Project Manager - $108,000 - $162,000/annual salary
  • Sr Technical Construction Project Manager - $140,000 - $210,000/annual salary

+ cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
