What to Expect

Tesla is looking for a highly skilledConstruction Superintendentwho is passionate about our mission to jointheNorth American R&D Infrastructure team.

In this role, youwill work closely with members of the Construction Management, Facility Engineering,Workplace/Operations teams, Design andEngineering,and variousR&D Engineering teamsfrom planning, through installation and the start of production. This team member will supervise all on-site constructionincluding scheduling of trade contractors, vendor tool installations, resolving day-to-day construction issues,coordinatinginspections, andensuringcompliance with plans and specifications. This role isresponsiblefor overseeingand verifying the quality of the work being performed by contractors or team members in the field. Thisrole requires you to be extremely detail oriented, identify real hard barriers, and drive the cross-functional teams to execute quicklyand safely. We have a demanding and fast-paced environment, so being self-motivated and self-disciplined is critical.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop execution plans and own detailed project schedules
  • Drive fieldwork to ensure schedule adherence, escalating build/installation issues to management. Plan installation logistics, communicate plans to involved parties, and track material deliveries
  • Coordinate on-site activities, including tool vendor coordination, base build construction, quality team coordination, and related engineering coordination. Coordinate downtime work during facility shutdowns, support operations, and lead constructability reviews of design packages
  • Enforce quality for engineering drawings and field installations, resolve field issues, troubleshoot tool installs, and prioritize decision-making for equipment turnover
  • Maintain a safe work environment, organize job areas, ensure contractor safety, and supervise on-site laborers while maintaining logs and providing progress reports, ensuring conformance to Tesla EHS and Workforce Management policies
  • Support commissioning of new spaces with internal Facilities Engineering team or third party
  • Communicate effectively across various cross-functional teams within Tesla, including Design, Facilities, Workplace, IT, EHS, Project Controls/Estimating, etc. to build relationships and ensure overall project alignment

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of construction experience for large-scale or complex projects
  • Understanding of construction design documents and ability to provide constructability feedback with working knowledge of building codes, standards, and environmental regulations
  • OSHA 30 certification, First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling tools like MS Project and Planner; experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud for construction administration tasks
  • Ability to effectively execute several projects and tasks in parallel and prioritize critical tasks
  • Travel up to 50% across the US (primarily western half); willingness to spend a high percentage of time in the field and to get hands dirty as needed to complete objectives or find the correct information

Expected Compensation $91,200 - $199,500/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
