Job description

Job Summary:
Tesla's Factory Software team builds systems that keep factories running, focusing on equipment management and supply chain automation. The role involves designing and implementing software solutions that drive real-time decisions and improve manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
• Design, build, and ship full-stack features across backend services (Go, Rust, C#, TypeScript) and modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Next.js)
• Architect and implement event-driven systems, real-time data pipelines, and streaming integrations using Kafka, Redis, and WebSockets
• Build and deploy AI-powered agents and LLM-based automation workflows that eliminate manual factory processes
• Design and optimize data models across PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB for high-throughput manufacturing workloads
• Build and maintain APIs (REST, gRPC, GraphQL) that integrate with factory equipment, ERP systems, and third-party platforms
• Deploy and operate services on Kubernetes with full CI/CD pipelines, observability (logging, metrics, tracing), and on-call ownership
• Collaborate directly with factory operations, product managers, and hardware teams to solve real manufacturing problems through rapid iteration
• Drive engineering quality through code reviews, design docs, testing, and a bias toward simple, maintainable solutions
Qualifications:
Required:
• Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Strong proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, C#, TypeScript, or Python — you write clean, performant code and can pick up new languages quickly
• Experience building and deploying production backend services with modern cloud-native tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD)
• Solid database skills across SQL and NoSQL — query optimization, schema design, and working with large-scale data
• Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming systems (Kafka, Redis Streams, or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic AI workflows — building AI agents, prompt engineering, tool-use patterns, RAG pipelines, or similar applied AI systems
• Familiarity with frontend development (React, Angular, Next.js, or similar) — you can build a full feature, not just an API
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, and software architecture
• Thrive in a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment where you ship often and own outcomes
• Clear communicator who works well across engineering, product, and operations teams
Company:
Tesla is an electric vehicle and clean energy company that provides electric cars, solar, and renewable energy solutions. Founded in 2003, the company is headquartered in Austin, USA, with a team of 10001+ employees. The company is currently Late Stage.
