About Peak Energy

Peak Energy is the first American venture to advance globally proven Sodium-Ion battery systems as the storage standard for the new era of renewable energy on a resilient grid. Sodium-Ion is cheap, readily available, and safe, making it the leading contender in a rapidly evolving market.

Our leadership team is powered by decades of expertise in scaling gigawatt-level innovation at world-class companies such as Tesla, Northvolt, SunPower, Fluence, and Enovix. We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures.

  • Provide legal guidance on new business initiatives, partnerships, and emerging workstreams across the organization
  • Help establish internal legal processes, policies, and operational protocols that enable teams to operate efficiently and autonomously
  • Serve as a trusted advisor capable of balancing legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced startup environment

Intellectual Property & Regulatory Support

  • Support intellectual property matters including patents and trademarks, and coordinating with IP counsel as needed
  • Provide practical guidance on regulatory and compliance matters impacting the business and energy storage industry

What You'll Bring (Qualifications)

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership California state bar
  • 5+ years of legal experience with a combination of law firm and/or in-house experience preferred
  • Experience independently drafting, negotiating, and advising stakeholders through transaction lifecycles with a practical, business-oriented mindset with sound judgment and a strong attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of corporate law, commercial contracting in the energy industry, and general business operations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior in-house counsel experience at an energy, infrastructure, climate technology, or manufacturing company
  • Experience working closely with engineering or product organizations
  • Experience supporting fundraising, M&A, and corporate governance matters
  • Knowledge of California and Texas energy markets is a plus
