Job description

Position Summary


Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations. This role is accountable for ensuring operational performance, customer satisfaction, and budget targets are achieved within a 24/7, single-client environment.


As the primary point of contact for the customer, the Warehouse Operations Manager will play a critical role in managing ongoing communication, resolving issues, and maintaining a high level of service in a fast-paced and demanding environment.


This is a unique opportunity to support the launch and development of a new operation, including building processes, contributing to operational design, and participating in hiring and developing the team. The role requires a hands-on, self-directed leader who can operate independently while collaborating with on-site transportation teams in a shared facility.


The operation is a smaller-scale warehouse (~16,000–17,000 sq ft) with approximately 20 employees across multiple shifts.


Location: Rocky View, AB

Schedule: Schedule can vary. Mon - Fri, 40+ hours


What you will do

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the customer, managing day-to-day communication, resolving issues, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors and warehouse staff across a 24/7 operation
  • Support the startup and ongoing development of the operation, including establishing processes, workflows, and best practices
  • Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and structuring of the warehouse team, including selection of supervisory staff
  • Manage labour planning, scheduling, and performance to meet operational and financial targets
  • Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement to achieve productivity, service, and cost objectives
  • Collaborate with on-site transportation and terminal teams to ensure alignment and smooth execution within a shared facility
  • Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, sorting, staging, and shipping of returned pallets, totes, and other reverse logistics materials
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Support inventory oversight and accuracy within a primarily manual operation, transitioning to system-supported processes over time
  • Contribute to the future implementation and optimization of a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Manage budget responsibilities including labor, supplies, and operational expenses to meet P&L targets
  • Foster a positive team environment with strong communication and engagement


What You’ll Bring

  • 3–7 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations; 3PL experience
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, with a track record of developing teams
  • Strong customer-facing experience, with the ability to manage high-expectation clients
  • Experience working in fast-paced, evolving, or startup environments is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and operate as a self-starter with minimal on-site leadership support
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, and material handling
  • Experience with WMS systems
  • Financial acumen, with exposure to budgeting, cost control, or P&L management
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
