Job description

Job Overview: The Terminal Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the LTL trucking terminal. This role involves coordinating and optimizing all aspects of terminal activities, including personnel management, safety compliance, customer service, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Leadership:
  • Lead and supervise terminal staff, including drivers, dock workers, and administrative personnel.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient terminal operations, including loading, unloading, and freight handling activities.
  • Implement operational strategies to meet service goals and performance metrics.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and audits to promote a culture of safety within the terminal.
  1. Staff Management:
  • Recruit, train, and mentor terminal employees. Provide ongoing performance feedback and address performance issues as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a strong team by fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
  1. Customer Service:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and effectively to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-saving measures.
  1. Route Planning and Optimization:
  • Collaborate with dispatchers to plan and optimize delivery routes, considering factors such as time, fuel efficiency, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor route performance and make adjustments as needed to improve efficiency.
  1. Inventory Control:
  • Implement and oversee inventory control processes to ensure accurate tracking and handling of freight.
  • Minimize losses and damages through effective inventory management practices.
  1. Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay informed about changes in industry regulations and ensure terminal compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to demonstrate regulatory compliance.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance terminal efficiency.
  • Collaborate with corporate teams to implement new technologies and tools to improve operational processes.
  1. Communication:

Qualifications:
