Job description

Our Company

At Teradata, we believe that people thrive when empowered with better information. Teradata Autonomous Knowledge Platform activates enterprise intelligence by unifying data, knowledge and business context to achieve tangible outcomes. With Teradata, organizations can provide agents with full context for impact when it matters. Our solution lets businesses connect and scale on premises, in the cloud, or through a hybrid approach. Teradata delivers real business value with AI.

What you will do

We are looking for a mid-level engineer who will be responsible for delivering robust, performant and resource-efficient Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and On-premise Platform Infrastructure for demanding Teradata analytic and AI workloads. This is a critical role for providing our customers with Teradata Cloud and on-prem Platforms they can count on to be highly available and performant.

You will be responsible for

  • Deploy and configure Teradata systems across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

  • Characterize and tune system performance across CPU, storage, I/O, and network layers.

  • Stress and validate infrastructure up to-and beyond-manufacturer limits to ensure robustness under analytic and AI workloads.

  • Develop automation tools for analyzing and monitoring infrastructure behavior.

  • Collaborate with cloud providers and internal engineering teams to investigate and resolve issues.

  • Support customer-facing teams with platform performance, configuration, and availability questions.

Who you will work with

You will join a high-performing engineering team working with

  • Teradata Advanced Development, Architects and Product Management to understand system requirements and test new platform infrastructure capabilities.

  • Cloud infrastructure providers to understand and help influence roadmaps; and to resolve functional, robustness and performance issues.

  • Teradata Customer Support and Operations to support customer field issues.

What makes you a qualified candidate

  • Experience with Public Cloud (AWS/Azure/GC) Computing Infrastructure.

  • Experience with Linux OS and command line.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.

What you will bring

You will be a preferred candidate if you have

  • Scripting (e.g., creating and modifying test cases to create targeted configurations and workloads).

  • Experience with Teradata Cloud or On-Prem solutions, Teradata Cloud on VMWare, or Teradata Factory.

  • Experience in public cloud environments - AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

  • System deployment and configuration

  • Performance and resource (CPU/Storage/IO/Network) characterization and tuning.

  • Stress infrastructure up to, and beyond, manufacturer limits to probe for weaknesses to ensure robust infrastructure under intense workloads.

  • Problem Solving: Analysis and troubleshooting, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions to identify the root cause of an issue and resolving it.

  • A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with a passion for technology.

  • Creativity and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

  • Effective documentation, communication and knowledge sharing skills.
