Job description

Job Title: Teradata Architect
Location: Plano, TX / Charlotte, NC (3 days a week onsite)
Duration: 1 Year Contract

Teradata Architect (Migration-Focused)
Primary focus: Lead enterprise-scale Teradata architecture and migration initiatives.
Architectural Design & Strategy:
Design end-to-end Teradata architectural solutions for large-scale banking and regulatory platforms.
Evaluate on-prem to cloud or legacy to modern Teradata migration paths; create technical migration blueprints.
Define data distribution, partitioning strategies, workload management (TASM), and performance optimization approaches.
Migration Execution & Engineering:
Lead the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes required to migrate high-volume financial datasets.
Develop and validate migration scripts, batch jobs, and Teradata BTEQ, TPump, FastLoad, and FastExport utilities.
Perform Teradata version upgrades, database refreshes, and schema migrations with zero/minimal downtime.
Performance Engineering:
Conduct performance assessments of SQL queries, physical data models, and workload behaviors.
Tune system parameters, indexes, statistics, and storage strategies for optimal throughput.
Production Support & Reliability:
Oversee the production health of Teradata environments, including incident triage, root-cause analysis, and post-migration stabilization.
Implement best practices for monitoring, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and failover.
