Job description

Cleans and maintains buildings.

This is a part-time temporary, non-benefits eligible hourly position. The compensation range for this position is $18.81 - $23.04 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepares dorm rooms for summer occupants and guests.
  • Makes beds and exchanges linens.
  • Restocks toilet paper, paper towels, and soap dispensers.
  • Vacuums, dust mops and wet mops floors, and spot washes walls. Dusts or vacuums furniture.
  • Arranges classroom furniture, cleans chalkboards & whiteboards, restocks chalk, markers and erasers.
  • Cleans entrances and elevators. Sweeps outside steps and polices the outside perimeter of the building.
  • Collects and removes all trash and recycling.
  • Arranges furniture in social spaces/lounges.
  • Prepares daily work order log.
  • Interacts appropriately with the customer.
  • Supports the College's Recycling program.
  • Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from team liaisons and supervisors.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental practices and procedures.

General Responsibilities

  • Washes windows.
  • Sets up and removes furniture and equipment for special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Requirements

  • Custodial experience preferred.
  • No formal education or training required.
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Able to establish and maintain working relations with supervisors, fellow workers, students, faculty and the rest of the College staff.
  • May be required to work independently. Able to follow a schedule.
  • Must be able to work on weekends as required.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push or pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be able to walk and climb stairs frequently.
  • Must be able to carry supplies and equipment up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, squat and kneel frequently.
  • Must be able to perform frequent over-head reaching movements.
