Job description

Back of House Team Member (Prep & Line Cook) — Lona's Lil Eats

Location: 2199 California Ave., St. Louis, MO 63104 (Fox Park) Pay: $20–25/hour depending on experience Type: Full- or part-time

About Lona's Lil Eats We're the St. Louis home of the Original Giant Rice Paper Wrap — fresh Asian cuisine with a soul-food flare. Everything is made from scratch: we peel the garlic, roast the peanuts, and build every sauce and seasoning ourselves, with fresh ingredients and absolutely no MSG. The last bite should be the best one — and that starts in our kitchen.

The Role You're the engine of the kitchen. As a Back of House Team Member, you handle fresh daily prep, build our scratch sauces and seasonings, hand-roll our signature Giant Rice Paper Wraps to order, and run the line during service. If you care about doing food the right way and can stay fast and clean under pressure, this is your kitchen.

What You'll Do

  • Prep fresh ingredients daily — chopping vegetables, roasting peanuts, peeling garlic, and more
  • Make sauces, seasonings, and components from scratch, to recipe, every time
  • Hand-roll our signature Giant Rice Paper Wraps to order
  • Work the line: cook, assemble, and plate dishes accurately and quickly during service
  • Build dine-in, take-away, and catering orders to spec
  • Follow all food-safety and sanitation standards — proper temps, labeling, storage, and FIFO rotation
  • Keep your station clean and organized; help with dish and closing duties
  • Track prep lists and flag low stock before it becomes a problem

What We're Looking For

  • Genuinely cares about fresh, scratch-made food and consistency
  • Kitchen, prep, or line experience preferred — but we'll train a motivated cook
  • Solid knife skills and comfortable with high-volume prep
  • Fast, clean, and consistent under pressure
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Able to stand for full shifts, work in a hot kitchen, and lift up to ~50 lbs
  • Weekend availability
  • Food Handler's permit, or willing to obtain one (we'll point you in the right direction)

Why Lona's

  • Competitive pay: $20–25/hour DOE
  • Free shift meals
  • Learn a genuinely from-scratch kitchen — real technique, real ingredients, real pride
