Employee Benefits & Workday Specialist

Temporary Assignment

Onsite only, NOT a remote role, in Providence, RI

We are seeking an experienced employee benefits professional to provide temporary operational, analytical, and project support to a busy Employee Benefits office.

This position will focus heavily on Workday Benefits, annual system updates, data validation, reporting, Open Enrollment, vendor coordination, and benefits-related projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on Workday Benefits experience, including a working knowledge of benefits configuration, along with excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the administration and maintenance of employee benefit programs and related Workday business processes.
  • Provide functional support for Workday Benefits, including configuration, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and other system activities.
  • Assist with annual benefits system updates, including coordination, testing, data validation, and implementation.
  • Support Open Enrollment planning and execution, including system preparation, testing, reporting, issue tracking, and operational activities.
  • Review and audit benefits reports and data to identify discrepancies and maintain data accuracy.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to analyze, reconcile, track, and report benefits information.
  • Coordinate benefits-related projects by tracking activities, deliverables, deadlines, issues, and outstanding items.
  • Monitor ServiceNow tickets involving benefits system issues, requests, and enhancements.
  • Coordinate follow-up with appropriate stakeholders and help move system issues toward resolution.
  • Work with external benefits vendors regarding service concerns, system requirements, data issues, and problem resolution.
  • Research and resolve benefits-related questions in collaboration with HR representatives, vendors, internal staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and reconcile benefits information and assist with resolving data or system discrepancies.
  • Support benefits communications, documentation, reports, and related materials.
  • Provide additional operational, analytical, system, and project support as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience working with Workday Benefits.
  • Working knowledge of benefits configuration and related Workday business processes.
  • Professional experience administering or supporting employee benefit programs.
  • Knowledge of annual benefits cycles, including Open Enrollment.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to organize, analyze, reconcile, and interpret data.
  • Experience reviewing reports, auditing information, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining data integrity.
  • Project management or project coordination experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, deliverables, and outstanding issues.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Experience implementing or administering employee benefit programs.
  • Experience supporting benefits system configuration, testing, annual updates, or implementation activities.
  • Experience using ServiceNow or a similar ticketing or case-management platform.
  • Experience coordinating with benefits vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a complex, highly structured benefits or human resources environment.
