We are seeking a highly skilled individual to make a significant impact on their digital presence, shaping the online experience for students, faculty, and the wider community. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your creative vision and technical expertise to transform key web properties and define the digital landscape for new academic initiatives, directly contributing to the institution's mission of empowering future leaders.
As a pivotal member of a collaborative web team, you will serve as a **Front-End Web Designer/Developer**, a dynamic role where your dual talents in visual design and hands-on development will bring web concepts to life. You will be instrumental in refreshing high-priority web pages and pioneering the design and development of new templates and landing pages for emerging academic schools. This position offers the unique chance to bridge creative aesthetics with robust technical implementation, ensuring a modern, engaging, and user-friendly digital experience for a diverse audience.
What You'll Do
  • Refresh and modernize high-priority web pages, including the homepage and core content sections, with a keen focus on visual design, usability, and exceptional user experience.
  • Design and produce innovative templates and landing pages for new academic schools, such as a School of Business & Leadership, a creative school, and a College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
  • Develop a scalable, overarching template and framework that can be seamlessly adapted across various new academic initiatives.
  • Translate compelling designs into clean, semantic, and well-structured HTML and CSS, ensuring efficient integration within the client's Content Management System (CMS).
  • Create high-quality design assets and front-end deliverables, facilitating smooth handoffs to back-end developers for comprehensive implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Web Manager and back-end development team, fostering a cohesive and iterative design and development process.
  • Actively iterate on designs and front-end work, incorporating feedback from the web team and key stakeholders to achieve optimal results.

  • Exceptional visual design skills, demonstrating excellent judgment in layout, typography, usability, and interaction design.
  • Hands-on proficiency with HTML and CSS, coupled with the ability to produce clean, semantic, and well-structured front-end code.
  • Proven experience designing for and working effectively within Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate seamlessly with back-end developers, possessing a clear understanding of the technical considerations involved in design implementation and handoff.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and independent work.
  • A responsive and available presence during business hours to support collaboration and project needs.

What Will Set You Apart (Nice-to-Have Qualifications)
  • Significant experience with BigTree CMS is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with other CMS platforms such as WordPress or Drupal.
  • Experience with SEO and/or Answer Engine Optimization (AEO).
  • Background working with organizations in higher education, healthcare, nonprofit, or other non-consumer sectors.
