Temporary Procurement Specialist Location: Raleigh, NC (Onsite) Pay Rate: $24.00/hour Duration: 3-4 Month Contract Start Date: Immediate - Target Start Next Week Position Overview A local Housing Authority is seeking a Temporary Procurement Specialist to support its procurement and accounts payable operations during a busy period. This is a fast-paced, contract opportunity ideal for a detail-oriented professional who excels at managing multiple priorities, maintaining accurate records, and delivering exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring timely purchasing, vendor management, payment processing, and support for resident-related procurement needs. Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage multiple procurement-related email inboxes, ensuring timely responses and follow-up.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and internal requests for procurement-related information.
  • Create, review, and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness, including verification of general ledger account numbers.
  • Coordinate procurement activities with Accounts Payable to facilitate timely payments and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support urgent same-day payment requests and assist with hotel reservations for displaced residents when needed.
  • Utilize agency purchasing cards to place orders, process payments, and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Place orders with approved vendors and suppliers while tracking order status and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain vendor records, including contact information, addresses, certificates of insurance, and other required documentation.
  • Complete monthly purchasing card reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the administration, facilitation, and ongoing oversight of annual purchase orders and contracts.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, accounts payable, administrative support, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes of information accurately.
  • Professional demeanor with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel.
