Job Overview:

R B Hinkle Construction Inc. is seeking a dedicated Underground Linework Apprentice to join our team in Sterling, Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in the construction, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution systems under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Job Responsibilities-

  • Assist journey-level lineworkers with the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground electrical cables, conduits, and equipment.
  • Learn to identify and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical diagrams.
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in underground utility work, including trenchers, backhoes, and cable pullers.
  • Perform duties related to trenching, excavation, and backfilling.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in training programs and complete required coursework to advance through the apprenticeship program.
  • Assist with the troubleshooting and diagnosis of underground electrical issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.


Job Qualifications-

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL Class A preferred or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments, including lifting heavy objects, digging, and working in confined spaces.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and commit to a multi-year apprenticeship program.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
