CT Mechanical was instrumental in launching a new Career Technical Education (CTE) Program in HVAC for the Alachua County School Board launching at Santa Fe High School in Alachua August 2024.

Job Summary

Comfort Temp HVAC & Plumbing (CTHP) is seeking an experienced Commercial Projects Manager to lead our growing Special Projects division. Unlike traditional large-scale construction, our team specializes in small to mid-sized commercial HVAC projects, tenant improvements, equipment replacements, renovations, design-build opportunities, and special projects for existing customers.
This role is responsible for managing projects from sale through closeout while ensuring exceptional customer service, profitability, quality, and schedule performance. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building relationships with customers, and can successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities Project Management
  • Manage multiple commercial HVAC special projects from kickoff through project closeout.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain project profitability with a target minimum of 10% net profit.
  • Develop project schedules and proactively identify potential risks or delays.
  • Forecast labor requirements and provide weekly labor projections and a rolling 3-week look-ahead.
  • Coordinate manpower with Service, Installation, and Operations teams to maximize efficiency.
  • Manage project documentation including change orders, RFIs, submittals, closeout documents, and warranties.
Customer & Business Development
  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build long-term relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Identify opportunities for additional work, upgrades, maintenance agreements, and future projects.
  • Work closely with the sales team to transition awarded projects smoothly into production.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience from start to finish.
  • Monitor project budgets, labor productivity, material costs, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Review project financial performance weekly and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Approve purchasing while maintaining company purchasing standards.
  • Manage project billing, change orders, and project closeout to ensure healthy cash flow.
Operations
  • Coordinate material procurement, deliveries, and equipment scheduling.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure warranty items are resolved promptly.
  • Collaborate with Estimating, Service, Finance, HR, Warehouse, and Operations.
  • Participate in weekly operational meetings and report project performance metrics.
Leadership
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor field personnel.
  • Improve processes and workflows.
  • Lead by example.
Qualifications
  • 7–10 years of commercial HVAC experience.
  • 3+ years of project management or operations management experience.
  • Experience with commercial replacement projects, tenant improvements, renovations, or special projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and construction practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with ServiceTitan, Sage, Microsoft Office, or similar software preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience preferred.
