Job description

Aerial Splicer / Construction Technician
Zaloumis Contracting Service is a utility telecommunication company seeking Aerial Splicer / Construction Technicians to fill full-time positions in the Pequannock NJ Area. This Position includes a competitive salary based upon experience. Zaloumis Contracting Service is an equal Opportunity employer
Responsibilities Include:
  • Building strand, lashing cables, setting bonds, building risers, setting anchors and down guys
  • Placing and lashing coax or fiber
  • Placing self-support cable and inner duct
  • Ability to drill poles and do pole shifts
  • Laying and installing all cables in compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and customer specifications
  • Climbing utility poles and/or using aerial lift truck to place cables on pole per system design and spec.
  • Performing safety evaluations and testing work for quality
  • Maintaining a safe, clean work environment
  • Maintaining and handling all tools, equipment and assets safely and responsibly
  • Willing to train new ground hand(s)
  • Compliant with all safety requirements
  • Capable of working in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions
  • Complete accurate and detailed logs, records and dailies
  • Knowledge of computer and excel for receiving work electronically
  • Knowledge and awareness of safety policies for protecting you, your team and the public at all times.

Requirements:
  • Able to splice active plant with A/C, read tombstones and design prints, and use of a meter for end of line reading.
  • Willing to work overnight hours 1AM - 6AM for splicing active plant (as needed basis)
  • Previous communication line experience required - 3 years aerial line/splicing experience preferred.
  • Familiar with CATV and telephone company prints/specifications
  • Knowledge and ability to operate aerial bucket truck
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Must possess valid driver's license with clean 2 year driving history.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check(s)
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination.
  • Punctuality and preparedness to work a normal daily schedule, as well as availability to be called in for emergency work.
