Job description

Special Education Teacher (Summer Session Only)
Stanley G. Falk School | Buffalo, NY

Pay: Starting at $33.97 per hour ($7,133.70 per summer session)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:35 AM – 2:35 PM

This is a temporary summer session position only, this role will run from July 6 until August 14th, 2026.

The Stanley G. Falk School, one of the largest Special Education Day Schools in New York State, serves students across four Western New York locations. Teachers provide instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards and each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) to help students reach their fullest academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and intellectual potential. Falk classrooms are intentionally small, typically serving six students supported by one teacher and one teacher aide, allowing staff to build meaningful relationships and provide individualized support.

This temporary summer opportunity is ideal for certified teacher candidates or individuals currently pursuing certification who are passionate about supporting students ith diverse learning and behavioral needs in a collaborative education environment

Responsibilities include:

-Developing lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards and student IEP goals

-Implementing provisions of the IEP and Behavior Intervention Plans

-Assessing student progress through both formal and informal methods

-Planning and leading individualized and small-group instruction

-Creating a classroom environment that supports students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development

-Preparing and grading assignments and assessments to evaluate student progress

-Maintaining accurate attendance and program records

-Supporting students in developing social skills, problem solving, and emotional regulation

-Directing assigned Teacher Aide(s) to support classroom instruction

-Utilizing behavior management and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques when needed

Qualifications:

-New York State Students with Disabilities Teacher Certification required (candidates currently enrolled in a certification program will also be considered)

-Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards and classroom management strategies

-Valid driver’s license preferred
