SUMMARY:Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Service Line Leader, performs a variety of duties in the operating room to assist the surgical team in becoming more efficient for that specific service line. The core Success Factors include:Instill Trust and Value DifferencesPatient and Community Focus and CollaborateRESPONSIBILITIES:Assists in preparing operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and properly stored. aIs a clinical resource for on-boarding new employees, including nurses, surgical technologists, and contracted labor in the scrub role and validating their skills. Aligns staff competencies to case complexity. Is regarded as the dedicated liaison to the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Works collaboratively with SPD to include, but is not limited to: o Tray optimization o Maintaining the location, availability, and weight limitations of trays o Conversion from trays to rigid containers o Establishes a universal naming for "like" trays o Daily validation of case cart completeness ao Building of new instrument trays to allow for service line growth Interfaces with vendors to ensure tray availability and timeliness of arrival to allow for sterilization. aA content expert who is available to scrub the spectrum of surgical cases within the scope of the service line when needed to augment staffing as well as maintain clinical competence. Assists in removing unused supplies from the surgery cart and stores them in the appropriate area for use. Stocks surgical supplies in the operating rooms and storage areas and performs other duties as designated by Service Line Leader. Has the authority to work with the Clinical Managers in the absence of the Service Line Lead to facilitate case placement in order to maintain flow. aAssists the service line leader in the review and maintenance of preference cards. id=_com_4 class=msocomtxt language=JavaScript MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:BASIC KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Meets the requirements of a Surgical Technologist a class=has-tooltipExtensive knowledge in orthopedic surgery to include but not limited to: orthopedic trauma, oncology, and spine surgery. A minimum requirement of 5 years' experience as a Surgical Technologist from an academic, Level One Trauma Center. A 2-year work history in their specialty. Knowledge of various surgical equipment and aseptic techniques; ability to operate sterilization equipment. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. High School Diploma or GED is required: Completion of at least one of the following options is required: Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program, or Graduate of a surgical technologist associate degree program, or Current certification as a CST, or Current NCCT-TC (tech in surgery) certification (for applicants with past military experience only; military experience as a surgical technologist will be strongly considered), or 3 years of experience within the past 5 years as a surgical technologist Current BLS Certification is required upon hire WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to work in a sterile environment and regularly exposed to cuts and punctures from surgical instruments and equipment, burns from autoclaves, anesthesia gases, as well as odors and communicable diseases from patients. Physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning of patients and to stand for extended periods of time during surgical procedures. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES: In the absence of the service line lead, may temporarily perform supervisory responsibilities.

Pay Range:

$32.56-$53.71
