Job description

Summary: Oversees the process of providing the necessary sterile supplies and equipment to the Operating Room. Responsible for on-time delivery of the case carts and other sterile instruments and equipment items to the Operating Room. Supervises sterile processing as a general support service to the Hospital. Oversees the activities of the Instrument Room and Sterile Processing.
Education: In addition to the skills normally obtained through completion of a High School education.
Licensure: CRCST required
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years' operating room experience. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of sterilization, aseptic technique, infection control, decontamination and packaging, and medical-surgical patient care supplies.
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Stands, sits, walks, stoops, climbs, and lifts up to 50 pounds. Verbal and listening skills required. Exposure to hazardous material and blood and body fluids. Potential for exposure to sharp instruments. Exposure to computer electrical energy and excessive noise intermittently. May be exposed to infection. Frequently exposed to a highly pressured and rapidly changing environment. Meets all safety requirements associated with the Medical Center.
