Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Serving as a HABs education and public awareness staff member.
    1. Attending outreach events to promote public awareness.
    2. Preparing Power Point presentation slides for outreach events and presenting to the public at these events during and after regular office hours or on weekends.
    3. Answering HABs questions from the public.
    4. Developing educational materials.
  2. Assisting the Environmental Consultant on sending out health notifications to the local county health departments, reporting out to partner agencies, and presenting on the Department's roles as needed.
  3. Handling all other duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Needs good communication skills (writing, verbal, and presentation).

Needs to use outlook, excel, and other Microsoft Office programs.

Needs to be able to take scientific information and relay that to the public in an easy-to-understand way.

Qualifications:

Minimum - Needs to understand basic science, environmental health, and have good communication skills.

Preferred - 2 years' experience working with the public, a bachelor degree in a physical science.
