Job description

Title: Temporary Head Custodian

Description:  Perform custodial duties required for the successful operation of the building

Qualifications:

  • Must exhibit a pattern of regular and timely attendance
  • Good physical condition - ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • An attitude of respect for cleanliness
  • Well organized
  • Good at record keeping and planning
  • Possess the ability to get along with co-workers, students, staff and the general public
  • Neat and clean in appearance
  • Maintain excellent attendance
  • Ability to get along well with others
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written directions

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain floor surfaces, and knowledge of equipment used (carpet extractors, floor scrubbers, and waxing)
  • Remove trash and dispose of properly
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and wall surfaces
  • Dusting all parts of the building
  • Cleaning bathrooms, refilling soap dispensers, toilet paper, and paper towels in all bathrooms
  • Clean up after emergencies (wet floor, sick child, blood spills, etc.)
  • Do buildings and grounds walk throughs on a monthly basis
  • Set up and move equipment and furnishing as required
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Snow removal during the winter, sidewalks
  • Oversee alarm systems and control systems
  • Be responsible for building security as needed
  • Weekend building checks
  • Be responsible for the work maintenance/repair ticketing system
  • Inventory of custodial supplies
  • Participate in meetings as required
  • Promote a positive and professional image of the district at all times
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and guidelines of Fairfield Community Schools
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal and/or supervisor

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Have at least a high school diploma or GED
  • Complete and pass an Expanded Criminal Background and CPS Check

Compensation:

  • Competitive pay based upon experience

Contracted days: 

  • 12-Month Employment

Hours:

      44 hours per week

      1 hour for weekend building check

Reports to: Building Principal and/or Building Supervisor and Director of Maintenance
