Job description

Legal Administrative Assistant (Temp-to-Hire) – Fully On-Site

Salary: $35-$50/hour

Our client, a well-established law firm in the Washington, DC metro area, is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant (Floater) to join its team on a temp-to-hire basis. This role is ideal for a polished, adaptable professional who enjoys variety and thrives in a fast-paced legal environment. You'll provide both front desk coverage and administrative support across multiple practice groups while serving as a key point of contact for attorneys, clients, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients, visitors, vendors, and guests with professionalism and exceptional customer service.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls and assist with general inquiries.
  • Coordinate conference room scheduling and reception activities.
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff across various practice groups.
  • Cover for legal assistants during vacations, absences, and busy periods.
  • Assist with time entry, expense reports, billing support, engagement letters, and conflict checks.
  • Support state and federal court e-filing and filing processes.
  • Monitor deadlines, calendars, and follow-up tasks.
  • Prepare, revise, and proofread legal documents and correspondence.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of legal administrative, legal secretary, or litigation support experience preferred.
  • Experience with state and federal e-filing, particularly in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, litigation procedures, and court rules.
  • Excellent communication, client service, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word.
  • Experience with document management systems (iManage preferred).
  • Strong typing, proofreading, and multitasking abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
