Department Information
The Department of History in the College of Arts and Humanities offers engaging programs rooted in historical inquiry, critical thinking, and global understanding. Students may pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees that emphasize hands-on learning, archival research, public history, and digital humanities, preparing them for a wide range of careers and lifelong civic engagement.
Job Summary
The Department of History is now accepting applications for a pool of part-time faculty positions to support the undergraduate program in teaching surveys of United States and World History for the 2025¿2026 academic year. These positions are on an as needed, semester-by-semester basis.
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in the Core IMPACTS areas (World History I and/or II and US History: A Comprehensive Survey).
  • Applicants may be asked to teach in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online).

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Masters degree in History or a closely related degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in History;
  • Classroom instruction experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned Ph.D. in History
  • Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses

Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
