Job description

Staff Dentist | Lead. Mentor. Give Back. | Up to $250,000 | 4-Day Week

Location: Fortuna, CA

Schedule: Full-time | 4x10s (Mon–Thurs) | No weekends or call

A Role That Lets You Make a Lasting Impact

You’ve built your clinical expertise, led successful patient care, and gained the experience that younger dentists need. Now it’s time to use that skill for something even more meaningful — mentorship, leadership, and service.

Join a mission-driven FQHC in Northern California where your steady hands and compassionate leadership will not only improve patients’ lives but also help shape the next generation of clinicians.

Why This Role Is Rewarding

  • ‍ Mentor the Next Generation: Guide new graduates through their early careers, sharing your knowledge and helping them develop confidence in their craft.
  • Bread-and-Butter Dentistry: Enjoy the kind of dentistry that keeps you connected to patients — urgent needs, restorative, anterior endo, and all full or partial denture steps and adjustments. (No molar endo or implants required.)
  • Support Staff That Sets You Up for Success: Our Registered Dental Assistants are seasoned, tenured professionals who are truly the selling point of this role. They manage charting, temp crowns, X-rays, room flips, sealants, and coronal polishing — allowing you to focus on patient relationships and quality care.
  • Serve With Purpose: Your work directly improves access to oral health for rural and underserved families — where it’s needed most.
  • Work–Life Balance: A 4-day workweek, no call, and no weekends means more time to enjoy the Northern California lifestyle you’ve earned.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Salary: $200,000–$250,000 (DOE)
  • Loan Repayment: Up to $75,000 for 2 years of service (NHSC-eligible)
  • Relocation & Sign-On Bonus: Customized to your experience
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision + 403(b) with 4% match (vested day one)
  • Time Off: 5 weeks PTO + 1 week CME (with stipend)
  • Malpractice: FTCA coverage provided

You’re a Perfect Fit If You…

  • Have 5+ years of experience in general dentistry
  • Value mentorship, leadership, and giving back
  • Thrive in a collaborative, community-centered environment
  • Are licensed (or license-eligible) in California
  • Want a stable, fulfilling position with the freedom to focus on quality, not quotas

Where You’ll Work

Set between the redwoods and the Pacific coast, Fortuna offers the perfect mix of small-town charm and natural beauty.

Enjoy a slower pace, a welcoming community, and weekend adventures through wine country, coastal trails, and nearby national parks.

This is your chance to lead, teach, and give back — while working alongside a team that truly makes dentistry feel rewarding again.
