Job Description Summary
The Nazareth University Assistant Rowing Coach (Part-Time)supports the Head Coach in leading our NCAA Division III program. The Assistant Coach will have a passion for the sport and a commitment to fostering the development of student-athletes both on and off the field.
Essential Functions
  • Recruitment & Retention: Identify and recruit talented student-athletes who embody the university's values and have the potential to succeed academically and athletically.
  • Coaching & Development: Assist in planning and conducting team practices, providing individual and group instruction, and developing game strategies.
  • Game-Day Preparation: Support all aspects of game-day operations, including scouting opponents, preparing game plans, and managing equipment and logistics.
  • Team Management: Enforce team and school policies, ensuring student-athletes adhere to NCAA Division III, Empire Eight Conference (or applicable conference), and university regulations.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in fundraising, alumni relations, and community outreach activities to promote the program.

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Prior coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills; proficiency with technology used in recruiting and coaching

Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
  • Master's Degree
  • 5+ years of coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level
  • Advanced knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; experience with video analysis software

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Overseeing student-athletes or grad assistants in the absence of the head coach

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, engage in active movement, and lift equipment related to the sport
