Job description

Meyer Utility Structures is currently looking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic for our plant operation located in Hager City, WI. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic will repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. Production machines and equipment include, but are not limited to overhead cranes, 60' Press, Plasma, Burny (NCC), Radial Drills, Robotic equipment, Long Seamers, Turn Rollers, Welding machines, Air compressors, Forklifts and company diesel trucks. Candidates will be required to go through all necessary training to perform their duties (i.e. Lock-out/Tag-out, confined space, fall protection, NFPA 70e, etc.). What You'll Do:
  • Mechanical Experience: Electro-mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, combustion systems, gear boxes, conveyors etc. Must be experienced working with precision tolerance machinery.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Controls downtime by performing routine preventive maintenance; requires excellent record keeping and reporting for the maintenance planning system.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adheres to all policies. Minimizes risk by performing routine safety inspections; requires excellent record keeping and reporting for the maintenance planning system.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability arranging resources and priorities to handle breakdowns with good repair techniques; assure permanent OEM restoration for temporary repairs; strong communications skills.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment and facilities.
  • Overhaul and install new equipment.
  • Rebuild and fabricate parts.
  • Perform facility maintenance and maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Be able to operate and work from an aerial lift.
  • Generate parts request to ensure adequate inventory.
  • Generate and complete work orders as assigned.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Train all employees on tasks as needed.
  • Apply company rules regarding safety, discipline, cooperation and teamwork.
  • Attend selected meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

What You'll Need:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience with 480-volt 3 phase power.
  • Strong knowledge of responsibilities listed above: Preventive Maintenance & Troubleshooting.
  • Applicants outside of maintenance must score higher than 50% on the Machine Maintenance Knowledge test.
  • Previous experience within heavy industrial environment.
  • Ability to follow specifications and read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
  • Ability to read and understand machine drawings and manuals.
  • Good understanding of basic mechanical components including bearings, gears, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Experience with assembly of close tolerance equipment and use of micrometers, etc.
  • Outside applicants will be required to take a math test.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on all levels.
