Registered Nurse-Hematology/Oncology-PRN, Days

The Hospital‑Based Outpatient Oncology/Non‑Oncology Infusion Unit is a specialized treatment area designed to provide safe, efficient, and patient‑centered infusion therapy for individuals requiring both oncology and non‑oncology infusion services.

The unit features six infusion chairs, each equipped to support a wide range of intravenous therapies and supportive care treatments. Services include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic therapy, IV hydration, electrolyte replacement, blood product administration, therapeutic injections, and symptom‑management interventions. All treatments are administered by oncology‑trained registered nurses who follow evidence‑based guidelines, specialized medication‑handling procedures, and continuous patient‑monitoring practices.

The care team collaborates closely with oncology providers, primary care physicians, specialists, and pharmacists to ensure coordinated treatment planning and continuity across the patient's care journey. The environment is designed to promote comfort, safety, and privacy while maintaining efficient patient flow for both scheduled and time‑sensitive infusion needs.

The unit's core mission is to deliver high‑quality, compassionate outpatient infusion care within a hospital‑based setting, prioritizing safety, patient education, clinical excellence, and an optimal treatment experience.

Qualifications

  • Requires 1 year RN experience.
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
