Job description

Job Title: Registered Nurse

Location: Maconaquah School Corporation/Western School Corporation

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (Follows School Calendar)


Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated, clinically skilled Registered Nurse to provide 1:1 medical support for a student with complex medical needs. In this role, you serve as the student's primary medical advocate, ensuring their safety and stability. You will work within the classroom setting and on the school bus, following physician’s orders.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor portable ventilator settings, oxygen levels, and pulse oximetry.
  • Perform frequent tracheal suctioning and provide emergency tracheostomy care/replacements as needed.
  • Administer scheduled medications and enteral feedings via G-tube/J-tube.
  • Accompany the student on the school bus to and from their residence, ensuring all medical equipment is secured and the student is monitored during transit.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time nursing logs regarding the student’s physiological status and interventions.
  • Work alongside the Special Education team and therapists to integrate medical care into the student’s school day without disrupting learning.



Qualifications & Requirements
  • Active Indiana RN license in good standing.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Experience with ventilator management and tracheostomy care preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a non-clinical setting and remain calm during medical emergencies.
  • Must be able to assist with student positioning and lift/maneuver portable medical equipment.
  • Must be willing to travel daily with student by school bus to and from student’s residence to and from Western School Corporation.
