Job description

Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) Temp to Hire Role 50-90 per hour depending on experience We're seeking an experienced **Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support the design, implementation, and security of mission-critical information systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with cybersecurity engineering, RMF, system accreditation, and securing Windows and Linux environments. * Lead RMF package development and support system accreditation efforts (ATO).
* Integrate security throughout the system lifecycle using security-by-design principles.
* Perform security assessments, risk analysis, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.
* Support Windows and Linux hardening, patch management, and secure system configurations.
* Develop security documentation, technical recommendations, and engineering solutions.
* Collaborate with engineering and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with federal and industry security standards. Overview * Experience supporting RMF, A&A, and system authorization activities.
* Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, security controls, and risk management.
* Experience securing Windows and Linux environments.
* Familiarity with STIGs, vulnerability management, and compliance validation.
* Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
* Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or equivalent are a plus.
* Experience with cloud security, DevSecOps, container technologies, or CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.
* Experience supporting highly regulated environments is preferred.
* U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
