What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards throughout the plant for yourself and others at all times.
Become Familiar with Tools and Equipment. Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties.
Learn to Diagnose Problems. Learn to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective components, test, and make regular adjustments.
Learn to Weld. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines. Plan, lay out, install, and repair a wide variety of complex equipment.
Perform Maintenance. Perform a variety of maintenance and carpentry functions. Learn to perform regular preventative maintenance on machines and plant facilities.
Complete Apprenticeship Program. Attend and successfully complete a three year apprentice program that includes a classroom setting.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
Functional Knowledge. Must have thorough knowledge of welding material, welding properties, and various types of metals. Must be able to interpret blueprints. Must be able to wire feed welding machines to hard face and fabricate and repair liners.
Welding Skills. Must have welding experience.Must be able to perform brazing, welding, arc-welding, and cutting tasks.
Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions andtolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
